One of the most common bottled waters in France, known for its green bottles and recognizable teardrop shape, mineral water Perrier is made from a naturally carbonated spring in Vergèze, in southern France's region of Gard. The spring, called Les Bouillens, has been used a spa since Roman times. French doctor Louis Perrier acquired the spring in 1898 in order to open a commercial spa, in addition to bottling the water and putting it up for sale. The spring was later sold to Sir Saint-John Harmsworth, a wealthy British visitor who eventually closed the spa, renamed the spring Source Perrier and began selling the water in unique green bottles. Perrier was acquired by Nestlé in the 1990s, as part of what would eventually become Nestlé Waters. It is now marketed in several flavors, including the original unflavored water, but also lemon, lime, and pink grapefruit.
The brand recently launched Société Perrier, a US events-based blog with New York, Los Angeles and National editions. The blog spotlights special events, venues and photos, and aggregates all the social media action surrounding the events. The site is also a resource for creative recipes for Perrier-based alcoholic drinks, positioning the brand as a nightlife product in addition to the traditional way it is enjoyed as a stand-alone drink.
To celebrate this new nightlife blog and creativity in general, Moleskine was called upon to create a custom cahier notebook, with a unique, two-color silkscreen on the cover of Société Perrier artwork. The books were given away at events in NY and LA and used as gifts for those artists and creatives who work with Société Perrier as part of the advisory committee that make each event a vibrant, buzz-worthy success.
